I-55 Mississippi County
Delta South performed work on an 8-mile stretch of I-55 in Mississippi County. Work involved removal of the top 9 inches of concrete on the existing interstate, removed the asphalt bond breaker, and crushing the original concrete highway, built in the 1950s. This provided an in-place road base and a substructure to begin reconstruction. Delta South used 3D paving for our base asphalt to rebuild the correct slopes in the roadway profile. This $94M project included approximately 359,00 tons of asphalt, 134,000 tons of class 7 base rock, 353,000 square yards of R&D concrete, and 44,000 cubic yards of excavation.
