Wilmington Bypass

Reeves was the Structure subcontractor on the US Highway 17 Wilmington Bypass (future Interstate 140), located in Brunswick County, North Carolina. This project was a 4.7 mile section of new location divided highway built to interstate standards, including nine bridge structures. Reeves’ contract was to build the structures for the project, including bridges at grade separations over existing roads, over CSX Railroad, and over environmental streams and wetlands. Our scope included driven steel/concrete pile foundations, 72 inch diameter drilled shafts at 154 foot depth, railroad crash walls, concrete bridge foundations, erection of concrete/structural steel girders, cast in place bridge decks, temporary work trestle bridges for access in environmental areas, and temporary support bents for steel girder erection.
NC Highway 133

NC Highway 133

The Reeves Structures Region completed the $15.8M contract to rehabilitate Bridge #14 Highway 133 over the Intracoastal Waterway and 8 miles of hot mix asphalt patching and resurfacing in Brunswick County, North Carolina. One of only two access points means this was a critical corridor to Oak Island, North Carolina, a summer tourist destination, therefore the bridge closure and rehabilitation was completed in the off-season to minimize impacts to the public. Our team worked together to deliver this project ahead of schedule during the off-season closure. The key bridge rehabilitation scope included foundation repairs, cathodic protection systems, full bridge deck replacement of 28 spans (1,120 linear feet), safety improvements replacing and upgrading the bridge barrier to vertical concrete parapet and aluminum railing for pedestrian and vehicle traffic (along the full 4,250 linear feet length of bridge), and installation of polyester concrete deck overlay for the full length of bridge.
I-26 Newberry Resurfacing

I-26 Newberry Resurfacing

One of Reeves’ largest projects was the South Carolina Department of Transportation resurfacing of Interstate 26 in Newberry, South Carolina. I-26 Spartanburg SMA

I-26 Spartanburg SMA

As the interstate system of South Carolina ages, the South Carolina Department of Transportation has been investigating different mix types and pavement structures to ensure that new projects withstand the increasing traffic brought on by economic development in the state and last well into the future. Reeves Piedmont was the low bidder on one of these new projects in Spartanburg, South Carolina. At $25M, this 135,000 ton project was set to remove the top 1.5 inches of existing OGFC, correct the existing cross slope, and resurface with 2 inches of Stone Matrix Asphalt. The project included 18.39 miles of Interstate 26 starting at the South Carolina-North Carolina border and extends down to the Interstate 85-Interstate 26 interchange.
I-55 Mississippi County

I-55 Mississippi County

Delta South performed work on an 8-mile stretch of I-55 in Mississippi County. Work involved removal of the top 9 inches of concrete on the existing interstate, removed the asphalt bond breaker, and crushing the original concrete highway, built in the 1950s. This provided an in-place road base and a substructure to begin reconstruction. Delta South used 3D paving for our base asphalt to rebuild the correct slopes in the roadway profile. This $94M project included approximately 359,00 tons of asphalt, 134,000 tons of class 7 base rock, 353,000 square yards of R&D concrete, and 44,000 cubic yards of excavation.
Highway 49 Widening

Highway 49 Widening

Highway 49 Widening was a project Delta South acquired from the purchase of the company API. It was a multi-lane widening of Highway 49 that runs north from Paragould, Arkansas. The highway went from a two-lane to a five-lane roadway. The job had approximately 76,000 tons of asphalt, 86,000 cubic yards of excavation, and 64,000 cubic yards of compacted embankment. The $9.4M job was completed in two years.
Speedway Truck Stop – Matthews

Speedway Truck Stop – Matthews, Missouri
